Paul & Elizabeth Johnson
Shyorongi, Rwanda — Calvary Chapel Shyorongi
Paul and Elizabeth have been married for 18 years and have shared their life and ministry between Canada and Rwanda. After marrying in Canada in 2007, they celebrated traditional and civil weddings in Rwanda the following year.
Paul, from the cold wilderness of the Yukon, and Elizabeth, from the warm farmlands of Eastern Rwanda, both grew up in mining communities. Since moving to Rwanda full-time in 2016 after Paul’s calling from John 15:16, they have devoted themselves to ministry through Calvary Chapel Rwanda. Paul oversees biblical teaching, pastoral duties, and ministry training, while Elizabeth leads the women’s and children’s ministries and manages two Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centers.
Together, they also lead a nationwide Library Ministry, having trained hundreds of librarians and educators, and distributing 25,000–35,000 new books annually through shipping containers to establish public libraries. Their work has opened doors for outreach and discipleship across Rwanda. Calvary Chapel Rwanda has also planted Calvary Chapel Shyorongi, a thriving congregation in the Northern Province filled with children, youth, and adults.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
John 16:15
