Meet our September CSOC Missionaries of the Month, Jon & Allison Brechtel.

Oaxaca City, Mexico — Calvary Chapel Oaxaca

The calling from the Lord to missions started when Jon and Allison attended the School of Discipleship at Calvary San Juan (Calvary South OC) in 2013-2014. The Lord worked on their hearts over the next few years as they served and were blessed to be part of the amazing staff at the church. They sold their house and made the move to Mexico.

They first attended a Spanish school on the coast of Oaxaca in 2017, where God made it clear that they were to plant a church in the state of Oaxaca. After Spanish school they took the church planting class at Calvary Rosarito for one year where they also served as missionary staff. In January 2019, they moved back to Oaxaca and started Calvary Chapel Oaxaca in February 2019.

They’ve been blessed to be there and be part of the work the Lord is doing in that city. There aren’t any churches that teach the Bible verse by verse. The people love learning this way and desire to know God more and more. The Brechtel’s have an amazing church family who love Jesus and want to serve Him.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit

Praise Reports:

•We have a school of ministry meeting each week that is building up a group of leaders in the church to grow in teaching and sharing the Word!

•We had a great VBS in July with a team of ladies from Calvary South OC and it was a huge blessing not only for the church and kids, but for us too!

•We had a team from Calvary Red Rock and did ministry up in the mountains and ministered to the people in the pueblo. 

•We also had an outreach at the local hospital that was awesome. One of the homeless young men we met that night has started to come to church. 

Prayer requests:

•Jon has started to go again to the rehab he was going to before. Please pray for the men to grow and really come to know Jesus. 

•We have started to go again to the mountains in the village. Jon is teaching Navigators with some of the men from our church. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive each way and they leave after church on Sunday and head back that same night. Please pray for hearts to be open to learning the Word and for their safety when they travel. 

•Unity within the church
