Missionaries of the Month: The Brechtel Family, Oaxaca City, Mexico
The calling from the Lord to missions started when Jon and Allison attended the School of Discipleship at Calvary San Juan (Calvary South OC) in 2013-2014. The Lord worked on our hearts over the next few years as we served and were blessed to be part of the amazing staff at the church. We sold our house and made the move to Mexico. We first attended a Spanish school on the coast of Oaxaca in 2017, where God made it clear that we were to plant a church in the state of Oaxaca. After Spanish school we took the church planting class at Calvary Rosarito for one year where we also served as missionary staff. In January 2019 we moved back to Oaxaca and Calvary Chapel Oaxaca started in February 2019 in Oaxaca City, Mexico. It has been such a blessing to be here and be part of the work that the Lord is doing in Oaxaca. There aren’t any churches here that teach the Bible verse by verse and the people love learning this way. They desire to know Him more and more, and we have an amazing church family who love Jesus and want to serve Him.
Prayer requests:
•Jon is teaching in Spanish now without a translator. Please pray that He will continue to grow in this area. And please pray that Allison will be able to teach the ladies in Spanish too.
•Please pray that Jonny and Noah will do well with speaking Spanish, and also do well in school. They will be in 10th grade this year.
•Continued spiritual growth in the lives of the people who attend the church. And that the Lord would continue to raise of leaders in the church, especially the men.
