Prayer and Fasting

Dear Church Family,

A desperate father with his demon possessed son approached the disciples of Jesus who were unable to help. At wits end, the father turned and pleaded with Jesus to deliver his son. Jesus commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the young man, and he was delivered and restored to his father. The disciples asked Jesus why they were unsuccessful in their attempts, and Jesus replied, “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21).

During the month of September, our church will enter a time of prayer, fasting, and seeking the Lord. In the past, we have seen the blessings that follow these times of corporate prayer. It is our desire for the Lord’s direction for our church, and we trust in God’s provision for our fellowship. We want to be in step with the leading of the Holy Spirit and long for revival. The Bible says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).
