The Church and Its Purpose
God wants us to be faithful. And if we are faithful, we will be fruitful. And what that looks like is entirely up to the Lord. The Lord will grow His church according to His plan. It is my prayer that as we enter another year as a church, that we would remain committed and devoted to the example that has been given to us in Scripture. That we would continue to grow more mature in our walk with the Lord, and that that maturity and growth would manifest itself in the love of Jesus. Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this all will know that You are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” This is what we want to be known for. This is what we want people to take away. How are we able to do this? Just go back to what God has said in His Word. We keep ourselves in the Word. Stay in the Word. Go through the Bible. Secondly, keep yourself in prayer, in fellowship with other believers. Cultivate those relationships that are going to move you closer to the Lord, and then allow the Lord to use you to evangelize, etc. But let This [the Word] be the foundation. And what will grow out of This will be something beautiful – something that God has designed.
