Planning Ahead

Not everyone understood why Paul would go to Jerusalem. Not everyone agreed with his decision to go to Jerusalem. But Paul was committed and determined, regardless of what the cost was that was involved. The point I want to emphasize to you is that sometimes, in the will of God, we have to do things that aren’t easy to do. The Lord may send us places that aren’t easy to go. Typically, we look for the comfortable road. The easy journey. Is there a trial-free Christian life I can sign up for? No! Not if we’re going to be effective in the kingdom of God. There’s no trial-free. Yet the Lord never promised in Scripture an easy journey. He did promise a safe landing. Paul had hindrances, he had enemies, he had opposition, but he also had Jesus. He had the power of the Holy Spirit. And he was willing to do God’s will in spite of everything that was in front of him.
