Missionary of the Month - January

Our featured missionary to begin the new year is Pastor Charles Jjagwe, who serves the Lord as the head pastor of Calvary Chapel Buwama in Uganda, with his wife, Levenia. Here is the overview he provided of his ministry in Uganda and an update on the new opportunities the Lord has given to him.

Jesus Christ called me to ministry after graduating from medical school. After having served in one of the big hospitals in Western Uganda, God took me and my wife to the far extreme North western Uganda in a Muslim predominant community where we served at a Calvary Chapel. It was a great blessing to having completed a 9 month online course with Calvary Chapel San Juan School of Discipleship from 2013 to 2014. This course was a great opportunity to equip me for ministry, as my expository biblical knowledge and skills improved.

In December 2020, God led us to begin a Bible teaching church at Buwama, in a community with predominant Catholicism, witchcraft, sorcery, drug abuse, and high crime rate. In the past two years after beginning Calvary Chapel Buwama (CCB), God has continued to save souls for His kingdom through the regular evangelism, discipleship classes, and the routine church worship and teaching programs. It is our prayer that God will fulfill our desire and burden of planting more Bible teaching churches in an area of more than 200 miles without at least one bible teaching church, apart from CCB.

There was an expanded opportunity this month (December 2022) to open a Medical Care Service Center that will not only treat the patients in our area, but also give an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the patients and their caregivers!

Prayer Requests:

·      That God will continue to cause hunger and thirst among the believers for prayer and studying of His word

·      That God will continue to save souls and for the believers to continue having the burden for the lost souls

·      That God will use the ministry outreaches to propagate the preaching of the gospel (we have the following outreaches like Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH), Evangelical home visits, hospitality ministries and fellowships like children, men and women fellowships)

·      That God will grant us favor in the communities we serve to overcome the anger and bitterness portrayed by the conservative Catholics and witchdoctors as they are scared of losing their followers from their demonic confinements

·      For God to open doors to begin a radio Bible teaching program

·      For God to provide the salary needs of the medical staff and other hospital running costs

·      For God to provide for my family and Church needs
