RADICAL FAITH

Dear Church Family,

For the past two days, I have been in the Silicon Valley to support my friend and colleague, Pastor Mike McClure of Calvary Chapel San Jose.

Mike’s church is facing nearly two million dollars in fines for remaining open. As I met with Mike and other pastors before the hearing, I was inspired by his faith in the midst of adversity. When the hearing concluded, not much had changed. Calvary Chapel San Jose was found in contempt of court, though the county’s “options” have made it impossible to be the church.

As I spent time with Mike and his family afterward, he said something that made a profound impression upon me. “As shepherds among God’s people, we must be willing to lay our lives down for the sheep.”

When we live with radical faith, the world doesn’t understand. But as pastors, we cannot turn people away. The county and its courts may deny the church as essential, but we must continue to obey God rather than man. Please continue to pray for Calvary Chapel San Jose.

Your Pastor,
John Randall

“We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
