August at Calvary South OC

Pastor John and Chad Williams at Thrive Young Adults

August was a full month at Calvary South OC, San Clemente! From summer camps and mission trips to beach bonfires, Bible studies, midweek services, prayer meetings, and family nights, we are so thankful for all the ways the Lord brought our church family together to grow in His Word, serve others, build friendships, and encourage one another.

Our HSM High School Ministry kicked off the month with summer camp at Forest Home in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. This year’s theme, Crowning the Cross, was based on Galatians 6:14 and challenged students to keep the cross of Jesus at the center of their lives. HSM also had the opportunity to serve together at Fred Jordan Missions in the heart of Skid Row in Los Angeles, helping serve meals to hundreds of people.

Our Roots Jr. High Ministry headed to Hume at Green Valley Lake for their summer camp, Renewed, based on Psalm 51:10. Students spent the week learning what it means to allow the Lord to renew their hearts, minds, and spirits. Throughout August, our high school and junior high ministries also gathered together multiple times for discipleship and worship—a great way to continue growing together after camp.

Our Men’s Ministry enjoyed its Summer Golf Tournament at Tijeras Creek Golf Club, with a great day of godly fellowship and some friendly competition. We also celebrated the conclusion of our 2026 Summer School of Ministry. The past ten weeks were an absolute blessing as the men locked shields together, committed themselves to seeking the Lord, and discovered more about what it means to serve Him at Calvary South OC and beyond.

Thrive Young Adults enjoyed their Beach Hangs at Doheny throughout the month and also welcomed Chad Williams to speak at Thrive Tuesday Night, encouraging young adults in their walk with the Lord.

Our Young Families gathered for a Park Day at Gorgonio Park, giving parents the opportunity to meet new friends while the kids played and spent time together.

This month, Pastor Fabian and Jessica also led a missions team to Ensenada, Mexico, where they served at an orphanage. The team played soccer and volleyball with the youth, colored and painted with the younger children, played with Play-Doh, and made cookies together. One of the most meaningful moments came when the team broke into small groups to listen to the children’s prayer requests and pray with them. During that time, one young boy prayed to receive Jesus. Praise God!

Our Women’s Ministry continued to meet throughout August in several ways. Michelle continued Esther’s Circle, our new Wednesday morning intercessory prayer gathering, teaching and encouraging women to grow in intercessory prayer. Thursday evenings, women continued through Crowned, a Bible study based on the book of Esther. Women’s Titus 2 Summer also continued with weekly Moms Beach Days on Tuesdays and Harbor Walks on Saturdays—simple, sweet opportunities for women to meet new friends, encourage one another, and pray together. We were also blessed to host a special Widows BBQ Lunch, welcoming over 50 women, several from other churches. It was a sweet afternoon of homemade BBQ, worship, a devotional, fellowship, and time spent praying for one another.

Our Singles Ministries, Focus Generation for adults in their 30s–50s and Refuge for adults in their 50s–60s, came together for a beach bonfire at Doheny. The evening included BBQ, fellowship, worship, and time in the Word with Pastor Tony.

The Gathering, our seniors ministry, met for its monthly potluck and continued studying Colossians 2 with Pastor Mark. We love seeing this ministry gather each month around good food, fellowship, and the Word of God.

We also wrapped up our summer Wednesday nights with our third and final BBQ & Family Service on the patio. It was such a fun evening for the whole family to eat, worship, and hear God’s Word together. Pastor John taught from 1 Samuel 30:6 on what it means to be “Strengthened in the Lord.”

The 2B1 Marriage Ministry hosted an outdoor movie night watching War Room and enjoying plenty of fellowship, conversation and popcorn!

Church family, these are only a few of the many ways God is using Calvary South OC to reach people with the gospel and make disciples. Thank you for your faithful financial support, your prayers, and your willingness to serve. Your partnership makes these ministries possible, and together we are seeing lives changed for the glory of God.

We are filled with anticipation for all that the Lord will continue to do in the months ahead. May we remain faithful to seek Him, follow His leading, and proclaim His truth until He comes.

Thank you for being such a faithful church family. It is a privilege to serve the Lord alongside each one of you.
