Pastor Matt, High School Pastor for Calvary South OC, San Clemente brings the Word!

GOING TO JESUS

This Wednesday during our Mid-Week Service, we were blessed to be led by our High School Ministry in a special takeover service. From worship to the teaching, it was powerful to witness the next generation boldly using their gifts to serve the Lord.

Pastor Matt Mestaz shared an encouraging message titled Going to Jesus, centered on returning to a simple and sincere devotion to Jesus Christ. Through 2 Corinthians 11:1–6, we were reminded how easy it can be to become distracted by the world, traditions, and misplaced priorities rather than remaining firmly rooted in God’s Word.

We looked at the church of Corinth as an example of what happens when believers slowly begin reflecting the broken culture around them instead of standing apart from it. In the same way, Christians today are called to live differently — “not conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Our identity is not found in culture or circumstance, but in Christ alone.

Throughout the message, we were reminded that what we love and worship ultimately shapes the direction of our lives. When our hearts are fully surrendered to Jesus, He brings alignment, stability, and transformation. Romans 12 calls us back to the mercy of God and to lives fully surrendered before Him. As believers, we are not called to make peace with sin, but to go to war against it through the strength and power of Christ.

What a blessing it is to love a God who remains faithful, even in moments when we are faithless.
