Rest in God's Love

Dear Church Family,

As I write this letter, Michelle and I are in Houston, Texas preparing to speak at a Marriage Conference. The theme for the conference is taken from the Song of Solomon simply entitled, “Beloved.” I wanted to remind you that you are beloved of God.

The Bible says God loves us with an everlasting love, and with lovingkindness He seeks to draw us to Himself (Jeremiah 31:3). God’s love knows no boundaries and goes beyond our ability to fully comprehend (Ephesians 3:18). The Lord was the one who initiated this loving relationship by sending His only Son Jesus to die for our sins. “Greater love has no man than this then He lay down His life for His friends” (John15:13). Rather than seeking to earn God’s love, I want to encourage you to rest in God’s love. “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us that we should be called the children of God” (1 John 3:1).

I love the lyrics of that old hymn entitled “The Love of God”: “Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made; were every stalk on earth a quill, and everyone a scribe by trade; to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky.” You are loved!

Your Pastor,

John Randall
