R and S KC

Kathmandu, Nepal — Calvary Chapel Kathmandu

R serves the Lord at Calvary Chapel Kathmandu with a passion to teach the Word and disciple His people. God has blessed him with an amazing wife, S who loves the Lord and serves alongside him wholeheartedly. Their continual prayer is for deeper humility and faithfulness to the work of the Lord through the various opportunities He has given them. They’re very thankful to God for His grace and mercy in their lives.

Ministry Overview:

One 2 One Coffee Shop: Through much prayer and the faithful support of many, God has enabled R and the team to open One 2 One Coffee Shop. Based on Psalm 121:1–2, the shop was created with a vision to build a Christ-centered community. It serves both as a business and a ministry outreach, with a focus on the Gospel and discipleship. The shop also provides jobs and practical training for local youth. There are currently a few young people working with them, and they’ve been blessed to see them grow. Their desire is to reach those who come into the shop through their service, a godly environment, and meaningful conversations. They aim to equip the youth in God’s Word and encourage them to live as faithful servants who share Christ and serve others. R and S have also been able to use the space to host youth fellowship nights with Calvary Chapel Kathmandu, creating further opportunities for ministry and growth.

A.I.R. Nepal: Anchored International Relief (A.I.R.) has been involved in Nepal since 2015 when the earthquake happened. That same year, R started working with A.I.R. in the Swara/Gorkha area. They had the chance to invest in relief work, but their heart has always been to share the Gospel and disciple those who get saved. By the grace of God, they have a very good connections with the local leaders and can invest in them and their people. They regularly visit this village and host ministry training conferences, teaching their leaders the Inductive Bible Study method, as well as other important ministry tools and teaches from the Word. A few other ways they ministry to this community is through medical outreaches and visiting schools and families in the area. Their constant prayer is to see more come to Christ and pour into their lives, so that they can grow locally and impact globally.

Leprosy Colony: Near R and S’s area, there are 60 houses divided into three colonies where people affected by leprosy live. Despite being healed from leprosy and not contagious, these people have been pushed away from their family and society. Some are Christian, while others are not. R still remembers how it was when he first started visiting around 2013. Now more believers have visited, invested, prayed, and preached, transforming the environment in a godly way. R hosts weekly Bible studies amongst the people where they spend time in worship, the Word, and prayer. They clearly see how these visits and care towards the community have impacted them for Christ’s sake.

Calvary Chapel Kathmandu: God has blessed R with the opportunity to minister as the pastor youth, coordinate the worship team, and serve on the board of elders at Calvary Chapel Kathmandu. He also occasionally teaches in some of the main and mid-week services. S is involved in women’s ministry and the youth where she gets the chance to connect and encourage the girls.

Calvary Chapel Bible College Kathmandu: During the first phase of CCBC, R got the chance to attend the school as a student. As time passed, God opened the door for him to be a translator for the classes, then slowly, He opened the door for him to start teaching. The Calvary Chapel Bible College's vision is not only to equip academically, but also practically. R has been blessed with the times he’s had to invest in the student's lives through teaching and discipleship.

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭15‬

  • Pray alongside me and my wife for God’s provision regarding the coffee shop needs.

  • One of the trends as well as the need for the youth to go abroad to study and work is very common. Please pray that God would bring some youth to work there.
