Run Your Race
Dear Church Family,
Once again, it’s been exciting to watch the top athletes in the world compete in the Olympic Games. The competitor’s dedication and commitment to training to win a gold medal is inspiring. Paul the Apostle was fond of athletic competitions as well and often referred to these games within his epistles. When writing to the Corinthians, he said, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown” (1 Corinthians 9:24-25).
Each of us has our own spiritual race to run. The reward we receive for the completion of our race is not temporal but eternal. Keep running your race for the glory of the Lord. One day, we will cross the finish line and see our Lord and Savior face-to-face.
Your Pastor,
