Draw Near to the Lord

Dear Church Family,

Recently, I have been reading through the book of Jeremiah in my devotions and have been amazed at how far the Nation of Israel drifted away from God into idolatry. Yet, the prophet Jeremiah pleaded with the people to turn from their idols and return back to God. If the people refused to repent, they would be destroyed, but if they repented, they would be restored.

In many ways, we see history repeating itself in our own nation. Nevertheless, the Lord is calling upon us as His people to return to Him. May we draw near to the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart and turn from anything that would stand in the way of fellowship with God.

"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon." -Isaiah 55:6-7
